If TCS company is such a bad company in terms of employee treatment, then how is it such a big company?
This is a really good question. I have struggled to reason the same.
My understanding is that TCS in its early days (first 20–30 years) did amazingly well. Had good skilled people and dedicated folks who’ve made TCS what it is today.
To the contrary, if you join TCS now, it’s a whole different game. There are very few folks who are really passionate about their work. Most of the others are there because of some flexibility, for example they have a branch in their home town. Apparently there is some unwritten law that TCS won’t fine anyone gives folks a sense of job security.
Because there aren’t passionate folks working in TCS now, growth & perks in the organisation don’t entirely depend on your performance and skill set.
Also everyone does not get equal opportunity any longer. This leads to politics and crab mentality making the environment toxic.
The leads and managers are only focused on delivery, there is no focus on who and how the job is being done. This leads to short term success in terms of deliveries and customer appreciation. But it ends up having situations where few employees are over worked and few just refuse to work. The employees also don’t grow in skills and roles.
